New on Tap

New on Tap

Lap Dog
Belgian Dark Strong Ale
11.5% ABV

It's winter and I have to brew at least one strong beer.  Lap Dog is a Belgian Dark Strong Ale brewed with two different cane sugars and brown sugar.  The beer is powerful, heavy in the mouth and very sweet.  A delicious beer from my perspective that promises to be on tap for quite a while.

Soul Brotha
Sour Belgian Brown Singel
6.5% ABV

Our newest sour beer is Soul Brotha, which is a Belgian Brown Singel fermented entirely using wild yeast for 14 months.  The beer has sat on pie cherries for 6 months and bourbon oak cubes for 3 months.  What results is a tart cherry drink, fizzy like champagne and intensely enjoyable.

A Gentle Reminder
Citra Pale Ale
5.25% ABV

Moving with whats popular these days, I decided it was time to cave and play around with Citra hops.  I created A Gentle Reminder as a beer to really show off this magical hop which has been described as tasting of citrus, grapefruit and mango.  Overall, I really like this beer, although.....I think I'd rather be sitting out doors soaking in 80 degree weather and Michigan sunshine while I drink it.  Something to look forward to.

Drunkel Randy
Smoked Munich Dunkel
5.8% ABV

Finally, I have been playing around with smoked malt a lot lately (bacon flavored) and decided to go a step higher than I went with Mind's Eye and add even more to a Munich Dunkel that I brewed.  What results is pretty.....well yum.  Beer tastes of smoke, bacon and chocolate.  Maybe sounds weird....but it works.  This one won't be on much longer.

Couple of New Labels - One beer gone bye bye and another still to tap

BEERS
New and Old

Strategic
Brown Ale
6.0% ABV

This beer was brewed to celebrate what I had hoped to be a great season of Michigan State football.  The season, not so great.  The beer was yummy though.  Unfortunately, its already run out.  I was very happy with the results and will definitely look to brew it again soon.

Amelia Noelle
Breakfast Stout
7.25% ABV

My wife and I were blessed with the birth of our second daughter Amelia on Nov. 17th, 2012.  I celebrate her birth every day of my life, but this beer is meant to be a physical celebration of her existence.  Amelia Noelle is a double oatmeal stout with whole vanilla beans and Sumerian coffee added during fermentation.  Please join Irene and I in our happiness and enjoy some of this stout.

Daddy loves you Amelia

I've been lazy on my social media updates - New(ish) Beers

New(ish) Beers

The Witching Hour
Pumpkin Spiced Saison
6.75% ABV

This was our annual attempt at a beer with tons of pumpkin added to it during the brewing process for Halloween.  The pumpkin didn't shine through the way I had hoped, but the beer is still very solid and drinkable.  Lots of good spice and a nice amount of what I call juiceyness.  Still on tap in the pub!!

BourbAZ
Whiskey Soured Imperial Porter
11% ABV

BourbAZ is another beer that was put on tap for Halloween.  The base beer for it was The Wizard of AZ, which was a bit to rich and chewy to make me happy.  The thought was to age the beer on oak that had been soaking in Makers Mark.  Somewhere along the way the beer got infected and soured.  The resulting beer is tastes of chocolate with notes of dark fruit and acid.  All and all, i real nice sour with a lotta alcohol.  Still on tap in the pub.

HindSight #3
Double IPA referemented with wild yeast and pineapple
11% ABV

Finally, the newest addition in our HindSight series, or beers that sucked originally that I try to save.  This one is no exception.  Originally, Home Grown DIPA, HindSight #3 is refermented with wild yeast and pineapple.  The resulting beer is a big, citrusie sour that drinks a lot easier than 11% ABV would suggest.  Still on tap in the Pub!

NOW ON TAP: Blue Heaven

NOW ON TAP

BLUE HEAVEN
American Wheat Beer made with Blueberries and Lemon Zest
3.75% ABV

Another new offering from Bashore Brewing is Blue Heaven which is a new table beer that was crafted to round out our tap line up for BeerBQ.  This beer is very low alcohol at 3.75% ABV and has had blueberries and lemon zest added to it for increased flavor.  The resulting beer can be enjoyed over the course of a summer afternoon......a summer that is rapidly coming to an end.  So lap some up while you still can!!

NOW ON TAP: Wonk Eye Rye

NOW ON TAP

WONK EYE RYE
Pale Ale
5.5% ABV

I'm a little late in the game with this announcement, but we have a relatively new beer on tap as of about a month and a half is a beer inspired by a wild night of pints with a couple of good friends, in which an eye kept wandering around the room.  Hence, was born a name.....Wonk Eye Rye.  This is a red pale ale, loaded with a very funky, unique simcoe hop and a butt load of rye malt.  The resulting beer has a very sharp, unique flavor that is meant to give us all a wonk eye at the of the night.

Cheers!

Two New on Tap

 NOW ON TAP

Tripel Lindy
Belgian Ale
9.25% ABV

New on Tap this year is a Belgian Tripel known as Lindy.  This beer is dry and fruity.  I've attempted tripels in the past with very unsatisfactory results, I am happy to say that I am happy with this effort.

I've Got a Raging Beanie
American Wild Ale
11% ABV

Another new beer on tap this week is an American Wild Ale called I've Got a Raging Beanie that rounds out the first round of our Patron Inspiration Series.  I can honestly, say I have never put more effort or time into a beer as I have this beer and what has come from it is, in my mind, one of the finest beers I have ever brewed.  As great of a beer as it is it's not even a fraction as great as the woman it is named for.  This beer is named for the most important person that has ever come into my life, my wife Irene Bashore.
For those of you that might be a little confused about the name of this beer, Irene has had a nickname since she was a little girl, Bean, sorry Beanie......your secret is out.  Their are several directions I could go in describing the unbelievable impact this woman has had on my life, she's an amazing person, wife and mother......but this is a beer blog, so lets stick to that.
Irene and my beer evolution basically began together when we were in college (just assume we were of legal drinking age).  I can still remember drinking my first craft beer and Irene sitting right next to me saying, "is it good?  Let me have a drink".  I remember spending cold winter evenings sitting at Crunchy's drinking Arcadia Scotch Ale with her....playing quarters and singing karaoke, or nights at Old Chicago picking the strangest four beers we could for each other.  In an odd way, beer has become a past time for us, something to do and something we enjoy.
It is really no surprise that when I expressed an interest in home brewing Irene was more than supportive, buying basically every piece of equipment I have today.  Not only that, but I can always count on her to be brutally honest about every batch I make.  One style I don't think she's ever criticized me for making are Wild Ales.  So I thought why not make her the biggest baddest beer I could.  The beer started out as a Belgian Tripel, which then had wild bacteria and yeast added to it.  the beer was then aged for 9 months before pineapple and peaches were added and the beer was aged for an additional 3 months on the fruit.  The resulting beer is funky, dry and tart.....and the biggest factor........its 11% ABV.  It'll get you drunk!!!

Thank you for everything you are Beanie.  I love you and I always will.  I am an extremely lucky man to have a woman like you in my life.

Cheers to eternal happiness!!!
